MCC-Penn Valley clothes closet will provide free career wear for students; grand opening Thursday

The newly created Penn Station clothing closet will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, on the zero level of the Campus Center (near the cafe) at MCC-Penn Valley.

Penn Station is an in-house clothing destination established to provide a free, convenient professional-clothing resource for MCC students. Students can select professional and business-casual attire appropriate for career fairs, interviews and the workplace.

This initiative of MCC’s Career Services office will allow students to transition from the classroom to the workplace by providing both career readiness workshops and no-cost wardrobe options.

Any currently enrolled MCC student who has an updated Career Central profile and a completed resume review from Career Services is eligible to receive clothing from Penn Station.

MCC faculty and staff, as well as community members, are encouraged to donate gently used career clothing and accessories that are currently in fashion. Those who make a clothing or monetary donation to Penn Station will receive a donation receipt for tax-deduction purposes. Deductions and monetary value of donations provided will follow IRS guidelines. MCC will not determine the value of any individual or group donations.
