The Metropolitan Community College family and MCC Foundation join the rest of Kansas City in mourning the loss of Henry W. Bloch, a longtime friend of the College. The philanthropist and co-founder of H&R Block died April 23 at age 96.

He was the namesake of the Henry W. Bloch Scholars program, which since 2000 has provided the opportunity for students to earn degrees from both Metropolitan Community College and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. MCC-Penn Valley’s Student Success Center, opened in 2017, was made possible in part by the Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation.

Those are just two examples of how Henry and Marion Bloch, the family foundation and the H & R Block Foundation have been generous in their financial support of our students and a variety of student programs.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Bloch family.
