Metropolitan Community College’s Penn Valley campus is teaming up with Hire KC to sponsor a hiring fair Friday, April 12.
The hiring fair is open to all MCC and high school students. Some high schools will be providing transportation to the event.
The public can also take part, but everyone has to register here ahead of time to participate.
As many as 70 area companies, agencies and nonprofits — including well-known names such as Garmin and Amazon — will be looking for people to hire. Most of the jobs are summer internships and seasonal positions but could lead to long-term employment.
Organizers say this is one of Kansas City’s largest job fairs of this kind, designed to give young people access to some of the area’s top employers.
Participants will have a chance to share their resumes, line up interviews and fill out applications.
Organizers say to dress to impress. The dress code is business professional. No jeans or tennis shoes will be allowed. The dress code will be strictly enforced.
MCC representatives will be on hand to provide information about college and career opportunities ranging from health care to information technology and advanced manufacturing and logistics.
