Update, March 26: It was a full house at Metropolitan Community College’s annual Procurement Outreach Business Forum. Out of the 184 people who registered for the event there were 83 certified women or minority-owned businesses, 89 individual business owners and 52 representatives from corporations, government entities and other resource partners. Metropolitan Community College will host its eighth annual Procurement Outreach Business Forum on Friday, March 8.
The event brings together diverse business owners to network and learn about opportunities to do business with MCC and each other. They will also meet with purchasing representatives from MCC and major local companies.
This year there will be a new general session with tips to help business owners grow and protect their companies.
There will also be presentations on how to structure businesses for success, how to identify financial fraud and embezzlement, and how to project a professional image.
Business owners will also learn the advantages of certifying their business and how to do it. A panel discussion will focus on the importance of certification along with groups that offer a variety of certifications.
The event will be at MCC-Penn Valley’s Education Center.
There will be two sessions. The general session is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes a “table talk” session over lunch. This will allow business owners to discuss challenges and obstacles they face.
The second session is a matchmaker event from 1-3 p.m., during which diverse business owners can meet with their choice of purchasing representatives.
