MCC, Northwest Missouri State to celebrate expansion of FastTracks program

Metropolitan Community College and Northwest Missouri State University will celebrate the expansion of the FastTracks program at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Northwest-Kansas City campus in Gladstone. MCC Chancellor Kimberly Beatty, Ed.D., Northwest President John Jasinski, Ph.D., and other officials (plus the school mascots) will be in attendance along with community leaders.

FastTracks lets students enroll concurrently at MCC and Northwest. A FastTracks student can graduate with both an MCC associate degree and a Northwest bachelor’s degree. They have the option to take classes at Northwest’s Kansas City campus, its main campus in Maryville or online.

“At MCC, we embrace partnering with other colleges and universities to provide our students with flexible, affordable and accessible education options,” Dr. Beatty said. “Higher education leaders need to continue to find flexible education solutions to create the workforce Missouri needs for the future.”

FastTracks launched last fall, and the program is being expanded through the agreement being signed this week. Effective this fall, the agreement will offer more choices for students:

  • More students will be eligible for FastTracks, including adult learners and students entering college with dual high school/college credit.
  • Students will be able to take Northwest courses at the same time they take courses at MCC and pay close to the MCC tuition rate because of the new Paws Scholarship from Northwest.
  • More degree options will be offered. New FastTracks students can choose from among Northwest’s KC, main campus and online bachelor’s degree programs.
  • Students can take advantage of services offered at both MCC and Northwest. For example, when students take their first Northwest class, they will be given a laptop computer. Also, students have the advantage of MCC’s enhanced support services including academic advisors who work closely with Northwest advisors. Students in FastTracks can attend one of MCC’s five convenient campuses or online.

The first step to enroll in FastTracks is to apply for admission to MCC, then the FastTracks program. Learn more about FastTracks at or by calling MCC at 816.604.1000.
