Hard work has paid off for a baseball player at Metropolitan Community College’s Maple Woods campus. Right fielder Tyler Cox was recognized as Player of the Week for Division I baseball by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Awards are announced weekly for the top athletes across the country. Cox was recognized for play from March 26–April 1.
That week when the Monarchs faced St. Louis Community College, Cox had 12 at-bats and got a hit six of those times for a .500 batting average. All six of his hits were home runs. He had 19 RBIs (runs batted in) off those 6 home runs.
The baseball Monarchs next take the field Saturday, April 14, at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo. For their full schedule, click here.
