Metropolitan Community College’s Business & Technology campus will again host the Hire KC Job Fair for high school and college students seeking jobs, internships and — new this year — skilled-trades apprenticeships. This year’s event will be Saturday, March 24, 9 a.m. to noon.
Thirty employer booth spaces will be reserved for manufacturing businesses seeking apprentices. This school year, MCC launched a skilled trades apprenticeship program in areas such as tool and die, maintenance mechanic and welding. Students accepted into the program learn on the job — for a paycheck — and in MCC classes. Businesses engaged in this program can customize their on-the-job training, select the MCC classes they want apprentices to take, and participate in MCC’s “train the trainer” program.
Students and employers interested in attending can find more information at hirekcyouth.org. The Business & Technology campus is at 1175 Universal Ave., Kansas City, MO 64120.
