Metropolitan Community College-Business & Technology is working on a new student recruiting tool that will be hard to miss.
The brightly colored Gold Collar Jobs on the Go trailer will be rolling out soon. The trailer will be equipped with the newest technology related to the career and technical programs MCC offers. “Gold collar jobs” are technical careers that pay well, are in high demand and require fewer than four years of training.
The trailer “will ensure an interactive, hands-on experience to educate and attract audiences and prospective students,” says Shawn Smith, associate dean of students at the MCC-Business & Technology campus.
Smith says the idea for the trailer has been motoring around for a few years. She credits Diane Belt in admissions and Enrollment Manager Steve Pankey for getting the project completed.
“This exciting new demonstration trailer will significantly increase our visibility with traditional-aged students and allow us to introduce thousands of new students to the skilled trades,” says Pankey.
Pankey says the outside of the trailer is complete, and he is working on designing the interior self-guided interactive experiences, showcasing MCC’s Gold Collar programs.
Once complete, the trailer will be run by two people for visits at high schools, career centers and workforce development centers.
“With this new exploration tool, we can better support students as they navigate their education and career opportunities,” say Pankey.
