Mark the calendar for this summer’s performances by students participating in the George Caleb Bingham Academy of the Arts program.

The program, which has been active since the late 1990s, serves up sessions for five weeks in the summer to help high school students from the Independence School District and nearby districts hone their skills in creative writing, music, theater and the visual arts.

Students  meet on the campus of Metropolitan Community College-Blue River for some of the coursework and are eligible for dual college credit through the academy.

More than 80 students are participating this year.

Here’s the schedule of the students’ public performances. The public is welcome; admission is free.
