The Metropolitan Community College-Longview Cultural Arts Center has several wonderful exhibits and performances in store for the Spring 2017 semester.

The gallery opens the season with the 8th Annual Longview Fine Arts Challenge. This show is a high school juried arts exhibition.

The challenge is open to high school art students in the southeastern Jackson County area. Each year, the exhibition has grown and for this last year, MCC received approximately 200 artworks for consideration. After the students have delivered their work to the gallery, a juror then makes selections for the gallery showing. Typically only about 40-50 works of art are selected each year making acceptance to this show quite an honor for art students.

The event runs from Thursday, Jan. 26, to Saturday, Feb. 25, with an opening reception on Jan. 26 from 4-7 p.m.

The Cultural Arts Center is located at 500 SW Longview Road, Lee’s Summit. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Saturdays.
