Metropolitan Community College-Business & Technology President Jackie Gill, Ed.D., will be part of a several-day celebration honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Kansas City’s King Holiday Celebration was scheduled to conclude Jan. 19, but bad winter weather intervened.

Gill is the keynote speaker for the SCLC’s Scholarship Prayer Breakfast that will now be on Saturday, Jan. 21 (rescheduled from Jan. 14). The event will be at 9 a.m. at the College Basketball Experience at Sprint Center.

At the invitation-only event, Gill will share her journey with high school and college scholarship recipients and their families.

During the breakfast, SCLC will award 16 high school seniors with scholarships and 10 collegiate scholars with continuing scholarships. The Black Achievers Society will also award 10 scholarships to local high school seniors.

Gill started at MCC in February 2016. She came here from Tarrant County College in Hurst, Texas.
