What are health care employers looking for? They’ll be at HSI on Oct. 23

HSI birth simulator (I think; from 2014)MCC students and graduates who are pursuing — or interested in — a career in health care are invited to panel discussion featuring some of Kansas City’s biggest names in the industry.

The panel discussion is set for 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at MCC-Penn Valley’s Health Science Institute, Room 101.

Much of the focus will be on what employers want to see (and don’t want to see) and how applicants can stand out against their competition. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and network with the employers.

Panelists will include representatives from St. Luke’s Health System, University of Kansas Hospital, Truman Medical Centers, KVC psychiatric hospitals, Integrity Home Care, Phoenix Home Care, Brookdale Senior Living and John Knox Village.

“As we all know, the job search process in today‚Äôs world does not allow for much face-to-face interaction, so this is a great opportunity for students to speak one-on-one with employers,” says Maggie Garcia, Career Services coordinator at MCC-Penn Valley.
