Manufacturing Day at Business & Technology campus to highlight industry’s job growth

Manufacturing DayThe third annual Manufacturing Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 at Metropolitan Community College-Business & Technology will focus on manufacturing as a career choice.

Featuring a presentation, panel discussion and optional tour of the campus facility, Manufacturing Day will highlight the growth in job opportunities and the talent shortage in the industry.

According to the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, the industry continues to garner a nostalgic reaction, though it has evolved into a highly technical and sophisticated line of work.

Panelists will discuss the rapid growth of job opportunities in the industry, including the increase in openings for skilled workers and engineers seeking a challenging and financially rewarding career.

MCC-BT, Kelly Services Inc. and Society of Manufacturing Engineers Chapter 57 are hosting the event, located in the Conference Annex at 1775 Universal Ave. in Kansas City.

Pizza will be provided for lunch, and optional tours of the campus will begin at 12:30 p.m. The event is free.
