Dr. Dana Grove, most recently president of Morton College in Cicero, Illinois, has been named interim president of the MCC-Business & Technology campus, effective Sept. 8.
MCC Chancellor Mark James introduced Grove to faculty and staff at Business & Technology’s fall convocation on Aug. 21.
Grove served as president at Morton, a community college in suburban Chicago, from 2013 until last June. He has previously been executive vice president for educational planning and development/chief operating officer at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park; executive vice president for academic affairs at JCCC; and vice president of academic services at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois.
He also served as dean of arts and sciences and a professor of English and humanities at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Grove began his academic career in the classroom and has continued to teach since 1977. He has been a program director and faculty senate president during his career.
Grove earned an M.A. and Ph.D., both in English, from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He is a published author and has made numerous academic presentations.
While serving in administrative positions, Grove developed a balance of experience in transfer and occupational credit instruction as well as noncredit continuing education and contract training. He is is a trained Higher Learning Commission (HLC) panel reviewer and peer reviewer (in AQIP).
Grove will serve as interim president at Business & Technology until a permanent president is named. The screening committee for that position is being led by Dr. Kirk Nooks, MCC-Longview president.
