Video: Update since the story was first produced. Rhiannon Ally is an MCC alumna and currently co-anchors KSHB’s NBC Action news at 5 and 10 on the local NBC affiliate. She is married to her co-anchor Mike Marusarz.
Rhiannon Ally is an MCC alumna. For the past few years, she’s been anchoring live coverage of breaking news in Miami, one of the nation’s top television markets. Beginning June 15, she will be anchoring for Kansas City’s Action 41 News.
Ally has had the opportunity to cover a wide variety of topics, from interviewing celebrities to reporting on major news events. But before she got her big TV break, she was taking classes at MCC.
“I took classes at Penn Valley and at Longview. And the teachers I had, I still remember to this day,” Ally remembered.
Ally grew up as a native to Kansas City. She went onto to receive a Bachelor of Arts
in communications from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She’s always called Kansas City home and is very excited about her return.
To celebrate Metropolitan Community College’s Centennial in 2015, the College will share 100 different stories showcasing the transformative impact MCC has on this community.
Established in 1915, MCC has been educating students for 100 years. That means there have been a century of employees who have been working together to educate a century of alumni. To celebrate the major milestone, MCC is collecting 100 stories for a campaign we have titled 100 Years, 100 stories.
During this special year, you will see those stories unveiled and showcased here. Every month, MCC will release new stories to add to the collection, with the goal to document how the MCC mission (preparing students, serving communities, and creating opportunities) impacts our community.
