Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley Partners with the American JAZZ Museum to host Jazz Fest 2015

Every April, Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) highlights the glories of jazz as both a historical and a living treasure. To  showcase this special month MCC-Penn Valley is teaming up with the American JAZZ Museum to draw greater attention to the music’s heritage and history for Jazz Fest 2015.

The MCC-Penn Valley Jazz Ensemble will play April 17th at the Gem Theater. The concert, which will feature timeless jazz music, is free and open to the public.

There will also be a presentation of two items from the estate of jazz icon, Woody Herman; his clarinet and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Both will be on-loan and displayed at MCC-Penn Valley for the next five years.  Herman’s band was among the most popular of all big bands from the 1940’s through the 1970’s.

Please mark your calendars and join us for an Evening with the MCC-Penn Valley Jazz Ensemble.
