Forty Metropolitan Community College-Blue River students recently became members of Alpha Pi Sigma, the MCC-Blue River chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
During the Feb. 15 candle light induction ceremony at MCC-Blue River in Independence, students pledged to uphold the standards of Phi Theta Kappa, an international society which promotes scholarship, leadership and service. In addition, Kristy Bailey of Oak Grove, who serves as vice president of the local honor society, received the Five Star Competitive Edge award for her successful completion of a professional development plan designed to strengthen marketable skills.
