Boy Scouts from 27 Kansas City area troops will visit Metropolitan Community College-Business & Technology (MCC-BT) Saturday, February 8 for the third annual Boy Scout Merit Badge Round-Up. This one-day workshop offers Boy Scouts the opportunity to earn merit badges in several areas including: welding, computers, drafting, metal work, electronics, geocaching, nuclear science, radio, robotics, and traffic safety. More than 130 Boy Scouts, ages 10-17, have registered for the event.
This annual workshop at MCC-BT is designed to provide Boy Scouts the opportunity to earn merit badges that may be hard to obtain because of logistics, equipment, or instructional expertise. For instance, welding, robotics, and metal work merit badges require highly-specialized and expensive tools. By organizing experts in these fields, and allowing access to the high-tech labs at MCC-BT, area Boy Scouts have opportunity to earn merit badges that may have been logistically impossible without the use of our labs and instructors.
The Merit Badge Round-Up begins at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at MCC-BT and will conclude at 4:00 p.m.
MCC-Business & Technology is located at 1775 Universal Ave. KCMO 64120.
