MCC to host thousands for 2014 FIRST Robotics Competition

IMG_5575-2When MCC-Business & Technology hosts the Greater KC FIRST Robotics Competition March 14-15, 2014, approximately 55 teams from the region will compete, bringing thousands of high school students to campus.

More than 450 FIRST Robotics team members visited campus recently for FIRST Look, a preview party to show off MCC-Business & Technology’s 56,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall.

FIRST is an international robotics competition that gives high schoolers real-world engineering experience through yearly challenges and competitions. Each January, teams receive parameters for the upcoming competition and then have just six weeks to design, fund and build a robot before they begin competing. In January 2013, FIRST teams learned they would be required to build a robot that could pick up and throw Frisbees into a target.

MCC-Business & Technology is host to FIRST Robotics team Up Next, a group of home-schooled high school students who meet on campus regularly.
