MCC-Blue River PTK chapter earns Five Star rating

The Alpha Pi Sigma chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at MCC-Blue River received special commendation during the PTK Missouri Regional Convention and again at the Annual Convention for earning the organization’s highest ranking: Five Star Chapter.

The Five Star Chapter Development Plan is a blueprint for developing a strong chapter, improving student engagement on campus and recognizing progress in the attainment of goals set by the chapter. With the Five Star Plan as a guide, chapters enhance their strategies to recognize eligible students, provide personal and professional development opportunities for members through Honors in Action and build a working relationship with the college administration by becoming active on campus and in the community. As chapters reach these milestones they progress through each level of the Five Star Plan, ultimately reaching the pinnacle Five Star level.

MCC-Blue River’s Alpha Pi Sigma chapter inducted 60 new members in the spring of 2013. The chapter’s president is Jacob McQuerry, vice president is Kristy Bailey and faculty advisors are Becky Schuering, Dee Mathison and Cheryl Winter.
