MCC welcomes new director of OSHA Training Institute

wellman1MCC has named Jim Wellman director of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center, Region VII, located at MCC’s Business & Technology campus.

No stranger to MCC, Jim has served as adjunct faculty, teaching OSHA and environmental health and safety courses since 2009. He brings over 25 years of experience in occupational safety and risk management.

Most recently, Jim was a principal at Safety & Risk Management Solutions, LLC (SRMS), a professional safety, health and risk management consulting agency that he founded. Prior to leading SRMS, Jim was vice president of health, safety, environment, and facilities for Honeywell Aerospace. In addition, Jim served in various professional health, safety & environment positions with AlliedSignal, General Electric and Monsanto.

“I am very excited to be part of the MCC team,” Jim said. “I look forward to serving the organization.”

Jim holds an Executive Fellows MBA from Rockhurst University and a bachelor of science degree in industrial safety management from the University of Central Missouri. He also holds industry-specific qualifications, including authorization as an OSHA Outreach Trainer for General Industry Standards and Construction Standards.

Jim has served as the chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association Environmental Health & Safety Committee and on the board of advisors for Unicco Company. He also has been a guest speaker at the National Safety Congress and the U.S. Department of Energy HS&E Conference.
