Despite a dicey weather forecast, more than 200 children and parents attended MCC-Blue River’s All for the Children event on Saturday, March 23, including representatives from a handful of metro-area media outlets.

The child-abuse awareness event was featured on KCTV 5, KMBC 9 and KSHB 41 newscasts and on the front page of the Independence Examiner.

All for the Children was a beautiful example of community partnerships and community service. Families came to have fun and to learn. Students and teachers from Little Blue Elementary were involved, as were music and theater students at MCC-Blue River, faculty from the Public Safety Institute and employees from many other departments at the campus.

Funds raised at the event will support Children’s Mercy Hospital’s SCAN Clinic, CAPA and Mother’s Refuge.
