Gallery Talk on Cuban Printmaking Art Gives Way to October Exhibit Opening

The Carter Art Center at MCC – Penn Valley kicked off it’s October exhibit with a First Friday’s Gallery Talk by Dr. Antonio (Tony) Racela, the well-travelled Cuban art collector and chairman of the World Outreach Foundation – Kansas City.

The exhibit – which runs until Nov. 3, features seventy-four pieces of captivating artwork brought to the U.S. as a result of many trips to and from Cuba. The pieces of art are a product of more than thirty artists who all worked at the Taller Experimental de Grafica  in Havana, Cuba.

This month’s First Friday art exhibit was organized by Penn Valley art instructor, Bernadette Torres and featured an exclusive glimpse into the world of Cuban culture and artistic printmaking as told by Dr. Racela.

Dr. Antonio S. Racela, Jr. and others pose for a picture with former Cuban president, Fidel Castro.

Group tours and individual visits to the Carter Arts Center Gallery can be arranged by contacting the gallery at 816-604-4278 or by visiting for more information.
