MCC – Penn Valley Students and Staff Show Up to Save Lives

The Penn Valley Staff Association held their bi-annual Community Blood Drive today, Oct. 4, 2012 from 9 a.m. – 1p.m.

The event was spearheaded by Linda Lechowicz, student services specialist at Penn Valley and sought to receive 24 donations from volunteer donors. By the time the event ended, more than 40 donors were registered to give blood and 32 units were collected!

Lechowicz was excited to see so many students coming in to donate blood for the event. She was also thankful to have received an immense amount of support from the Penn Valley Student Ambassador program – which awards service hours (a requirement for students to complete the program) to those who volunteer in some aspect of the event.

Donating blood usually takes less than an hour to complete and is conveniently done on site. As is customary with past and future blood drives, free pizza, snacks and refreshments are provided as a token of appreciation for donors. The next Penn Valley Staff Association Blood Drive is being planned for either February or March 2013. Questions regarding future drives can be directed to
