CiCi Rojas, vice president of community engagement for Truman Medical Centers, has just been announced as the chairperson for MCC’s 2013 Five Star Gala.
Rojas serves on the board of the MCC Foundation, the college’s nonprofit arm that raises money for student scholarships and other student-support initiatives. In her role as chairperson of the Five Star Gala, Rojas will lead fundraising efforts and other engagement activities related to the event. Last year’s event was chaired by Carolyn Watley, president of CBIZ and board member of the MCC Foundation.
The fourth annual gala, to be held in the spring of 2013, serves as both a fundraiser and a way to honor a local leader or family who has exhibited exemplary support for education in metropolitan Kansas City. Past honorees include Henry Bloch and the Henry W. Bloch Scholars program; the Francis family and the Francis Family Foundation; and the Dunn family. The 2013 honoree(s) will be announced soon, along with the date of the event.
In addition to her roles as vice president of community engagement at Truman Medical Centers and on the board of the MCC Foundation, Rojas serves on a number of national and local boards. These include the National Latino Coalition Foundation, Friends of the Kansas City Zoo, the Central Exchange, Kansas City Public Television, Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association, Hope House, and Guadalupe Centers. Professionally, her past roles have included president and CEO of the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, president and CEO of the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and vice president of strategic alliance for the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
