MCC’s CIMM program and demand for skilled machinists featured on KSHB

Kansas City is home to 2,500+ manufacturers and many need skilled machinists.  MCC’s new Computer Integrated Machining & Manufacturing (CIMM) program works with 29 local manufacturers to train entry-level machinists and help fill the local skills-gap.

Students in the CIMM program spend the first ten-weeks in the lab and classroom mastering the basics of manual mill or lathe machining and spend the last six-weeks as a paid intern at one of the 29 CIMM consortium partners.   Students in this program receive the benefit of MoManufacturingWINs grant funding, which helps with tuition cost and instructional equipment purchases.

Check out this video from 41 Action News’, Mitch Weber, about the CIMM program at MCC.
