Over 600 letters have gone out to community, business and civic leaders inviting them to participate in an information gathering summit or interview during the week of Feb. 25 – March 1 as part of a feasibility study. The Clements Group, which specializes in the unique work of community colleges, has been commissioned to conduct the study.
To ensure MCC is being responsive to the critical needs of the communities, leaders and businesses it serves, MCC is looking for feedback to see if the pursuit of undertaking a major gifts campaign is reasonable.
Based on outcomes of the study, MCC and the MCC Foundation are proposing to seek $25.5 million in support of specific initiatives under four primary themes:
- fuel economic and workforce development,
- increase access to a college education,
- enable more individuals to earn a college degree,
- improve the overall quality of life in the region.
Chancellor Mark James believes MCC can provide more opportunities for residents and businesses to access and complete quality education and training with the support from a major gifts campaign.
