The Metropolitan Community College-Longview debate team, in another weekend outing, brought back a number of awards and recognition.
The team traveled this last weekend to Lawton, Okla., for the Cameron Christmas Classic. There were 22 schools in attendance from TExas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.
The MCC-Longview students attending were:
Stephanie Weissman, Joel Stockard, Nick Pasternak, Simone Henry, Micah Chrisman
The debate teams of Weissman/Stockard and Pasternak/Chrisman broke to the quarterfinal round in novice parliamentary debate.
Chrisman was named 6th speaker in novice parliamentary debate, and Pasternak was named 3rd speaker in novice parliamentary debate.
Additionally, Nick Pasternak won 4th in impromptu speaking, and was also top novice in impromptu speaking. Combined, the students work in individual events and debate lead to a 2nd place community college sweepstakes finish.
