Allied health students participate in innovative learning experience

Smith & Nephew, a world leader in joint replacement systems for knees, hips and shoulders, recently conducted a training in the Health Science Institute operating room for one area surgeon by performing a total hip and total knee replacement on a human cadaver.  Roger Massey, ST program coordinator and Dana Adler, full time faculty in radiologic technology participated in the training.  Massey acted as the surgical assistant and Adler as the radiologic technologist managing x-rays as needed, using the C-Arm.  The Physical Therapist Assistant and Occupational Therapist Assistant faculty and students had the opportunity to closely observe some of the operations and continue their observation from a live video feed in room 315.
