Remembrance: Carder Manning, retired Penn Valley music instructor

It is with sadness that we inform you of the death May 30, 2017, of Carder Manning. Mr. Manning was a vocal music faculty member and chair at MCC-Penn Valley from 1969-1995, then continued teaching part time until 2005.

Prior to coming to MCC, he taught music at William Chrisman High School in Independence and Southeast and Southwest high schools in Kansas City.

“He was a very talented man and wonderful colleague,” says MCC-Penn Valley’s Vicki Raine.

He was a 1950 graduate of the Junior College of Kansas City, precursor of MCC, and went on to earn two more degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Belton Christian Church, 409 Airway Lane in Belton, with a celebration of Mr. Manning’s life to follow at 11 a.m.
