Advocates For Civic Engagement, a student organization, hosted a public forum for Kansas City Public School Board Candidates on April 3 in the Little Theater at MCC-Penn Valley.

Student moderators posed questions gathered by Penn Valley students to the candidates which included: Patricia Mansur (at-large), Catina Taylor (at-large), Amy Hartsfield (at-large), Joseph Jackson (fourth subdistrict) and Janelle Bailey (at-large).

Candidates shared their viewpoints on topics such as: how to improve parental involvement, the role of the superintendent and the board, how to avoid a state takeover and how to assess teachers to ensure they can facilitate high academic achievement.
