MCC Traffic Advisory: Hospital Hill Run, June 3 and 4, 2016

traffic alertMetropolitan Community College-Penn Valley should not be significantly impacted by road closures during annual Hospital Hill Run activities, hosted by the UMKC School of Medicine on Friday night, June 3 and Saturday, June 4, but MCC employees are encouraged to review the following schedule, if there are plans to be on campus during these time periods.

The Hospital Hill Run UMKC School of Medicine 5K starts at 7 p.m., Friday, June 3. The event will start and finish on Grand Blvd. in front of Crown Center. 

On Friday, June 3, most road closures and detours will be in effect between the hours of 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. 

At 6:30 p.m., police and event personnel will implement a soft closure along the entire course (some traffic may be able to pass, but drivers should expect to wait while the course is being set up). All streets along the course will fully close at 7 p.m. when the race begins. The streets will open on a rolling basis as soon as the runners and walkers have passed (approximately a 20-minute-per-mile pace) and all course support materials have been removed.

  • Athletes start in NB lanes of Grand Bvd. Heading North to Pershing
  • Head East onto Pershing which turns into Gilham in SB lanes
  • Head south on Gilham in SB lanes to E. 29th Street
  • Head east on E. 29th Street to The Paseo
  • Head North on The Paseo to E. 27th Street
  • Head West on E. 27th Street to Holmes
  • Head North on Holmes to E. 25th Street
  • Head West on E. 25th Street to Pershing
  • Head NW on Pershing in the Northbound lanes to Grand Blvd.
  • Head South onto Grand Blvd. in the SB lanes to finish at South crosswalk in front of Crown Center Shops.
  • FINISH at South crosswalk in front of Crown Center Shops
  • Mile Markers (approximated location)
    • Mile 1 Located at E. 29th Street and Gilham
    • Mile 2 Located on E. 27th Street and W. Paseo Blvd.
    • Mile 3 Located on Pershing between E. 25th Street and Grand Blvd.

  • South on Oak Street to Gillham (10K route detours west on 39th to Broadway)
  • South on Gillham to West Gillham ( about 42nd)
  • South on West Gillham to 45th Street
  • West on 45th Street to Rockhill.
  • South on Rockhill to Meyer
  • Go west on Meyer to Brookside
  • Go north on Brookside to 62nd Street
  • Head east on 62nd Street to Main Street
  • Head north on Main Street to 61st Street
  • Head west on 61st Street to Brookside
  • Go north on Brookside to Cleaver II Blvd. (47th Street)
  • West on Cleaver to JC Nichols Parkway
