The MCC Institute for Workforce Innovation staff attended the annual Veterans Career Fair at Union Station yesterday, April 4. KMBC News coverage noted the event was well-attended, especially by veterans ages 30-45. The event was organized by the Kansas City Veterans Career Fair Inc., the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Full Employment Council and the Missouri Veterans Commission.
Over 500 veterans attended the event, which featured 120 organizations offering career and educational opportunities. Benefit information, health screenings and donated items such as flash drives were also provided.
I.W.I. presented information on career training for in-demand fields that would match military experience including information technology, manufacturing, transportation, OSHA and welding. Information on MCC services such as the free Public Computer Centers was also distributed, and a drawing was held for a Best of Kansas City gift basket.
