MCC-Longview has been nominated for the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce 2013 Res in Motus (Business in Motion) Business of the Year award in the Magnus category (more than 20 employees). The campus is in the running for the award with two other local businesses, Metcalf Bank and Hawthorn Bank. The candidates from each category were announced at the Chamber luncheon last Thursday, March 28.
After nomination, to be considered for the award each business is required to submit an application covering various areas of business practice such as company mission, employee relations, community service, and future plans.
MCC-Longview’s application was a joint effort between Fred Grogan, Linda Nelson, Clay Bussey, Sharon Pyant and Linda Anderson. They produced a creative piece that incorporated all of the information requested by the Chamber. The brochure-type application opened with a letter from Dr. Grogan acknowledging the honor of the nomination and outlining MCC-Longview’s past successes and future goals.
According to information from the Chamber, the top three recipients will have a site visit prior to the announcement of the winner in each category. Consideration is given regarding service to the Chamber and to the community, prudent business practice, stability/growth, history of good employee relations, effective marketing strategies, technology resource management, growth in number and employees and the application presentation.
The final award recipients will be announced at the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce Membership Luncheon on Friday, May 17.
