In case you were not able to attend Metropolitan Community College’s reception for Chancellor Kimberly Beatty at the historic Union Station last month, we wanted to share her story and the values she will bring to our community.
For those of you who did attend, Dr. Beatty wants to extend her gratitude for such a warm welcome and provide a look back at some highlights of the evening.
The institution’s eighth chancellor joins MCC from Houston Community College, where she served as vice chancellor for instructional services and chief academic officer.
The reception was hosted by the Board of Trustees and the MCC Foundation. The chairman of the MCC Foundation board of directors announced that an MCC student this fall will be awarded a $1,000 Foundation scholarship in Dr. Beatty’s honor.
Jazz played by a four-piece combo including MCC faculty members filled the room. Dignitaries on hand included U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver and Missouri state Senator Kiki Curls.
As MCC chancellor, Dr. Beatty said, “I commit to you today, by partnering with the executive team, faculty and staff, MCC will be a place where students not only dream with a question mark, but rather achieve their dreams with a period. That’s what we will do together.”
Dr. Beatty took the helm at MCC on July 1 after Chancellor Mark James retired.
