The MCC Institute for Workforce Innovation has signed its largest contract to date with ATK, an international aerospace and defense contractor. Last month, IWI and ATK finalized a $1.5 million agreement for training and consulting services. In addition to contracts signed earlier this fiscal year, MCC now has over $1.8 million in contracts with ATK.
The Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is ATK’s Independence, Mo. location. It is the Defense Department’s primary source for military 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm and .50-caliber rifle ammunition.
The first phase of delivery on the new contract will begin this month, with over 130 ATK employees attending classes at the Business and Technology campus for machine and facility maintenance. In May, an additional group of employees will begin machine operator training. On-site training at the ATK facility for rigging and forklift operators will also begin in May. IWI will provide on-going employee assessment as a contract service.
Training and services are projected to run through June 2016.
Congratulations to IWI’s outreach, operations and delivery personnel. Particularly instrumental in maintaining MCC’s long-standing relationship with ATK are Stan Fields, director of business development; Monica Johnston, faculty; John Littleton, performance manager III; and Kimberly Malkmus, performance manager.
