MCC-Blue River PTK Chapter Achieves Five Star Status

The Alpha Pi Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Metropolitan Community College–Blue River received special commendation during the Missouri Regional Convention and the recent Annual Convention for fulfilling all requirements to be named a “Five Star Chapter.” The Five Star Chapter Development Plan is a blueprint for developing a strong chapter, improving student engagement on campus and recognizing progress in the attainment of goals set by the chapter.

With the Five Star Plan as a guide, chapters enhance their strategies to recognize eligible students, provide personal and professional development opportunities for members through Honors in Action and build a working relationship with the college administration by becoming active on campus and in the community.  As chapters reach these milestones they progress through each level of the Five Star Plan, ultimately reaching the pinnacle Five Star Level.

The chapter inducted 60 new members this spring. Current president is Jacob McQuerry; vice president is Kristy Bailey. Faculty advisors are Becky Schuering, Dee Mathison and Cheryl Winter.
